Despite coming from a programming background, I rarely am involved in any form of coding nowadays, even HTML or CSS. I have been wanting to get back into it and at least have a better understanding of WordPress and CSS, and Ben Brooks’ article On Hacking finally gave me the push to get my hands dirty again.
After dropping in the Wintersong Pro theme from Studiopress, I wanted to customise a few things, so I set a few targets:
- Learn how to use BitBucket and SourceTree for version control
- Better understand WordPress theme development
- Better understanding of the Genesis Framework
- Get acquainted with Sublime Text
So far some of the minor tweaks I’ve made to the site:
- Updated link design, inspired by Belle Beth Cooper and Brian Gardner’s Unfiltered.me
- Familiarised and tweaked the Genesis footer link
It took me a lot longer that I initially thought, but I’m getting more familiar with things, so I look forward to further improvements.
PS: This totally means the site might totally blow up anytime, so don’t be surprised if it does.
